Where exactly is Kleinburg located?

Kleinburg is a historic village located in the City of Vaughan, Ontario, nestled between two branches of the Humber River. We are approximately a 40-minute drive north of downtown Toronto.

What are the must-see attractions?

While the entire village is part of a designated Heritage Conservation District, some of Kleinburg’s most well-known attractions include:

  • The McMichael Canadian Art Collection — home to an extensive collection of works by the Group of Seven and other Canadian artists.
  • The Kortright Centre for Conservation — known for its hiking trails, environmental programs, and natural landscape.
  • The village core along Islington Avenue — featuring local boutiques, cafés, restaurants, spas, and specialty shops.
Is Kleinburg walkable?

Yes! The core village is very compact. Once you park, you can easily walk between shops, galleries, and restaurants. Most of the village’s beauty is best seen on foot.

Where can I park in the village?

Public parking is available at:

  • The Kleinburg Public Library

  • Kleinburg Public School (outside of school hours)

  • Various on-street parking spots along Islington Avenue and Nashville Road.

  • Note: Many local lots are private; please respect posted signage to avoid ticketing.

Is there an EV charging station nearby?

Yes, there is an Electric Vehicle recharging station located at the Pierre Berton Heritage Centre (Police Station).

Can I get to Kleinburg via public transit?

While Kleinburg is most easily reached by car, you can check the YRT (York Region Transit) schedules for routes connecting through Vaughan or Woodbridge.

What are the typical store hours?

Most boutiques and shops open at 10:00 AM or 11:00 AM and close around 6:00 PM. However, many of our restaurants remain open late for dinner service. We recommend checking with specific businesses for their current hours.

Do I need a reservation for restaurants?

Yes, reservations are highly recommended, especially on weekends and during wedding season.

The Kleinburg Business Improvement Association (BIA) is a non-profit organization made up of local business and property owners. Our goal is to promote the village as a premier destination and maintain the beauty and economic health of our business district.

Is the village pet-friendly?

Very! Many visitors bring their dogs for walks through the village and the nearby trails. While some individual shops allow pets, please look for “pet-friendly” stickers or ask the shop owner before entering.

Are there public washrooms?

Public washrooms are available at the Kleinburg Public Library and the McMichael Canadian Art Collection (for gallery visitors).
