Huntington and Nashville Road Redevelopment – Nashville Developments (Barons) Inc.
A packed house gathered at the Kleinburg Library on January 25, 2018 to see the Revised Draft Plan of Subdivision – 19T-17V009 in the vicinity of Huntington and Nashville Roads, Councillors and the developers listened to the concerns of Whisper Lane and English Daisy Court residents during deputations at the Committee of the Whole meeting on November 21, 2017, as well as KARA’S request for a Community Meeting. With the facilitation of our Ward 1 Councillor, Marilyn Iafrate, Nashville Developments (Barons) revised their plans promptly. The result is that the cul-de-sac of Whisper Lane will not be opened with a new street running through it, as originally submitted, but will remain a cul-de-sac in perpetuity, closed off by a proposal of three houses at the end. In addition, proposed townhouses were eliminated, to be replaced by single detached residential properties. Residents asked the developers to preserve existing trees as much as possible, increasing lot sizes in the new development and providing additional landscape buffering.
GTA West Transportation Corridor Planning and Environmental Assessment Study, Stage 2
In February 2018, after reviewing the advice of the panel, the Minister of Transportation announced that the province will not proceed with an environmental assessment for a proposed highway in the GTA West corridor. To ensure that we are still able to meet the needs of this growing region, the Ministry of Transportation and the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO), with support from the Ministry of Energy, have initiated a joint study to identify a smaller corridor that will be protected for future infrastructure needs, such as utilities, transit or other transportation options developed as part of the ministry’s comprehensive Greater Golden Horseshoe Transportation Plan. KLEINBURG & AREA RATEPAYERS’ ASSOCIATION
KARA is made up of a membership of individual residents of Kleinburg, Nashville and area, over the age of 18, who join for a one-time membership fee of $20. KARA has an elected board of up to 18 directors nominated from its membership and four Officers elected by the Directors, all of whom volunteer their time in service to the community.
- To guide and encourage development consistent with Kleinburg’s Official Development Plan – OP2010 / OPA 633 / Heritage Conservation District Guidelines
- To enliven the cores of our villages
- To implement a traffic action plan
- To review the long range plan for water supply and sewage treatment
- To assist residents with improvement of local services
- To preserve and promote green spaces
- To conserve our heritage and historical properties
- To communicate effectively with the community
- To liaise with and add value to other community organizations (including Council and the BIA)
